Renowned Yorkshire artist Lucy Pittaway, the official artist of the Tour de Yorkshire for the second year running, designed a large scale flamingo and bicycle themed piece of field artwork at Flamingo Land Resort Yorkshire. This was painted onto their land by staff at Flamingo Land and was located adjacent to where the race passed by at 2.50pm, making it a ground and aerial visual spectacle.
This was the first time the Tour de Yorkshire had passed by the gates of Flamingo Land Resort Yorkshire, and many of their guests took a break from the thrills of the theme park in order to watch the thrills of the bike race as it weaved its way towards Scarborough.
“Visitors to the theme park and zoo got the perfect viewing spot in the Kirby Misperton village, right by our front entrance as we welcomed this iconic Yorkshire race to our area,” said Sarah Mills Director of Marketing Flamingo Land Resort Yorkshire. “Our guests have now been part of this unique piece of our history.”
