As Halloween brings another fantastic season for Flamingo Land’s Theme Park to an end, we have been distributing the remaining pumpkins to our animals. And, although the majority of our rides are now closed, visitors can still enjoy our award-winning animal collection throughout the months to come, with admission at a reduced winter rate.
Our Animal Encounters will be available too. So, you can feed meerkats whilst they sit on your lap or have lemurs take food from your hands. Those who prefer our taller residents can choose to feed our giraffes or enjoy the ever popular Penguin Encounter. All of these Animal Encounters are available for just £20 per person. Alternatively, you can meet and feed our incredibly intelligent Sea Lions for £30 per person. However, you must be over 8 years old to participate and those under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Of course, our animals will continue to need looking after over winter. So, if you would enjoy learning more about them, simply join one of our many Keeper Talks throughout each day. Our black rhino talk is at 11.30am, where you can learn about our critically endangered eastern black rhinoceros and Flamingo Land’s breeding programme. We also have hippo and giraffe talks at 12 noon. So, if you’d like to know more about these fabulous creatures, then simply join one of our Zoo Keepers on their viewing platform. Then, at 12:30pm, there is a Hamadryas baboon feed and talk, where you can see our substantial troop in action on their island.
You may already be aware that Flamingo Land zoo welcomed the birth of a new tiger cub earlier this year, which is already 9 weeks old. So, if you would like to find out some facts about critically endangered Sumatran tigers, you can join this talk at 1:00pm. There’s also a lemur talk at 2:00pm. So, discover a little more about our three species, before wandering amongst them in the lemur walkthrough.
We also have a fantastic Bird Show at 12:00 noon and a Sea Lion Show at 2:00pm. Just come along to see these wonderful animals in action and learn about animal training and their natural behaviours.
What’s more, if you would like to handle some our smaller, cute, hairy, scaly and crawly residents, then head on down to the Education Centre for our Meet a Creature sessions at 3.15pm each day.
So, as Halloween draws to a close, here is our red river hog, Radley, pretending to be a crocodile whilst eating a pumpkin! Happy Halloween from everyone at Flamingo Land!
