This is the largest cat in the world. Its native habitat is Eastern Siberia, but is also found in Northern Korea and China.
These beautiful creatures grow to between 9’ (2.7m) and 12’ (3.6m) long. They can weigh between 28 and 46 stones (200 - 300 kilos). Tigers are carnivores; in the wild, tigers need to eat at least 20 pounds of meat a day, and can eat up to 200 pounds, (that’s about the size of a fully grown man)!
Both our tigers are mature females; these are smaller than males. The Siberian tiger has a much paler coat, which is longer and thicker than tigers from warmer climates. This offers protection in cold weather and acts as camouflage in the snow.
There are thought to be only 430 tigers living in the wild, although happily this number is slowly growing. Another 490 tigers exist in facilities like this one.
