Determined to maintain its status as the North’s leading Theme Park and Zoo, 2009 will therefore be no exception!

Late in 2008 the Flamingo Land team travelled to Utah to discuss an ambitious project with leading roller coaster manufacturer, S&S Power. Together they planned to create the world’s steepest drop roller coaster, a record-breaking design that the team believe will quickly become a ‘must-ride’ experience for thrill seekers from across the globe. However, this masterpiece of contemporary engineering will feature not just an outstanding 96-foot, 112-degree drop, but also a unique harness design, allowing riders to be suspended upside down without requiring the traditional momentum force.

Within days of their visit the on-screen layout began to take shape and Mumbo Jumbo was born. With full tribal theming, the revolutionary orange and black coaster will soon begin over an 8,325 square foot site within The Lost Kingdom Reserve. Work is now under way to clear the site ready for the construction phase, with the existing Tidal Wave ride being removed in preparation.

Nick Buckley, Flamingo Land’s Operations Manager and a confirmed coaster fanatic, now heads this ambitious project. During a recent interview he commented, “There’s nothing quite like the thrill you’ll experience on Mumbo Jumbo… it really is the ultimate white-knuckle ride”. As only the second of its kind ever to be built and a first for Europe, it’s already creating excitement amongst roller coaster fans worldwide. So, start looking forward to summer now, as Mumbo Jumbo will be ready and waiting to welcome fearless Flamingo Land visitors from early July 2009.
