Flamingo Land Resort wins Yorkshire’s ‘Most Magnificent’ Attraction award 2014

Flamingo Land Resort, one of the biggest visitor attractions in Yorkshire, has been named Yorkshire’s ‘Most Magnificent’ Attraction 2014. Voted for by the public over the summer months, the attraction beat off stiff competition including last year’s winner Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the other 15 Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions to the accolade.

Flamingo Land Resort is situated in Malton, occupying 375 acres of beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. Encompassing a theme park, zoo and resort village. Flamingo Land Resort has also recently seen the development of their Mansion House & Tea Rooms, and the outdoor entertainment and dining arena, Riverside One. On top of their venue developments, 2014 has seen the wonderful new arrivals of Sumatran tiger triplets and more recently the zoo’s zebra foal.

Over 13,000 people voted for their favourite Yorkshire attraction, nearly tripling the amount of votes received in 2013, with Yorkshire Wildlife Park coming in second place followed, in order, by Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Eureka! The National Children’s Museum.

Deborah Hindley, Director of Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions comments:

“We’re absolutely thrilled for Flamingo Land Resort to the take the title of Most Magnificent Attraction for 2014. The phenomenal response and amount of votes we received is fantastic and is a testament to the value of these attractions in Yorkshire. Flamingo Land Resort has seen some major developments this year, with the arrival of the tiger cubs and the new development of the Mansion House and Riverside One; this accolade shows their continuing dedication to offering the public one of the best and most thrilling days out in Yorkshire.

Now joining Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Yorkshire Wildlife Park as previous winners of the competition, and looking at the quality and breadth of attractions we have to offer, this is truly reflective of Yorkshire’s superb visitor attractions and great days out.”

Sarah Mills, Director of Marketing at Flamingo Land Resort says:

“We are absolutely delighted to be voted Yorkshire’s Most Magnificent Attraction 2014 – especially as this award is decided by Yorkshire’s visitors themselves. The unique combination of a theme park, animal collection and holiday resort has evidently resonated with our guests and this recognition shows there is clearly something here for everyone.

We have had a record year so far, indicating visitors are appreciative of the continued investment into the park, including lemur and wallaby walk throughs, a new Mansion House & Tea Rooms which also caters for events and weddings, and Riverside One which has now hosted chart topping live acts such as Tinchy Stryder. We are planning a number of exciting developments for next year which I’m sure will be well received by our customers.”

The Yorkshire’s Magnificent Attractions group was founded 16 years ago, and currently includes 16 attractions in Yorkshire. The attractions work closely together on combined event and marketing activity, welcoming over 8 million visitors to Yorkshire each year.
