The end to another great season

We have had a great season at Flamingo Land and it’s been a real delight to welcome so many of you to the park as day visitors and Holiday Village guests!

We finished our main 2016 season off with a spook-tacular 9 days of Hallowe’en activities with pumpkin carving proving particularly popular with young and old alike, especially as guests could either take them home or leave them with us for our animals to enjoy.

The pumpkins which were left for the zoo animals were distributed to our mongoose, hogs, lemurs, lorikeets and snails. As this is the only time of year the zoo animals receive pumpkins, it is a great form of enrichment for them. The appearance and smell of the pumpkin is very novel, and therefore attracts the animals’ attention and many are curious and go to investigate what the mysterious object is! Depending on the animal, some may choose to eat it, some will play with it, whilst others will climb on it or completely destroy it. Regardless of how the animals respond to it, it provides them with something new to investigate during their day!

The mild weather was kind to us over Halloween Half Term, enabling over 16,000 day guests to enjoy a last thrill or two on our amazing rides. Our Holiday Village was also packed to the rafters for both the English and Scottish half terms.

Don’t forget that we’re open daily from 26th November onwards for the Winter Zoo (excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day).

On selected dates there are also 5 rides for young children, animal shows, a fantastic ‘Story Time with Santa’, a Christmas Market and Christmas Party Nights.

Further details of our Christmas activities can be found here.

We look forward to seeing you again soon!
